DropBox and Box.net integration with Banckle Chat for sharing files

In our previous blog post, we have discussed about how you can share images and files with an online visitor during a live chat session. These files and images are stored at some 3rd party platform such as Dropbox orBox.net, and the URL for each of these is shared with the chat visitor to access the specific file. To share files via URL, you need to follow a set of simple steps. Firstly, you need to create an account on Dropbox. Then, upload the files you need to share with the chat visitors. Each file uploaded on Dropbox storage would have its unique URL that you can share with the online visitor to access it. This is quite an important an useful aspect of Banckle Chat that instead of sharing the files directly in chat console, you just provide the URL of the file and that’s it. It helps in easy access of the file and eliminates the need of waiting for the file to transfer during the chat sessions.

 

Banckle Chat supports all kinds of file formats to be shared via Dropbox or Box.net but it is highly recommended to use small file sizes for better performance and quick uploading on these 3rd party platforms. You can also change the external storage provider through Settings. In “Data” section, click “Storage Settings”. Current storage provider is shown and an option is given to change it as well.

The chat visitor can view the image in the chat window and he can download the image for reference. If multiple files are shared by the chat operator, the online visitor would be able to see preview of all images in the chat window. The visitor can download multiple images shared by the chat operator during a live chat session by simply clicking the images and save them on desired location.

A chat operator can also share files with the chat visitors during an online chat session. The files to be shared are uploaded on 3rd party platforms such as DropboxBox.net etc and the operator shares the link address for these files. Banckle Chat provides image and file sharing options for the chat operators to offer more control over the application.
